Mann's Chinese Theatre
With all the spectacle and excitement that a film premiere can bring, the Mann's Chinese Theatre has been the real star of Hollywood for over seventy years. Known affectionately as "The Chinese", it is the jewel in the crown of the film industry. The instant you see it you know you are in Hollywood. Created by Sid Grauman in the late twenties, the Chinese is the prevailing symbol of movie dreams. It is a palace at which the royalty of Hollywood have come to introduce their films to the world. It also is a star in it's own right, having been seen in such movies as "Rush Hour", "Speed", and the classic "Singing in the Rain".
Millions come yearly to see the legendary theatre, from its exotic bronze roof that reaches over sixty-nine feet high into the air, to the Forecourt where Film Legends have left their signature, hand, and footprints in the cement. Adults and children from all over the world can touch history and stardom by placing their feet into the footsteps of John Wayne, or see how much larger Gary Cooper's hands were than theirs. The Chinese is the epicenter of Hollywood Blvd., with its walk of fame directly in front of the magnificent theatre and with new shops and buildings being constructed next to it in order to celebrate the great legacy of the motion picture industry. The theatre is still operational, anyone can buy a ticket and become a part of Hollywood history as they sit and enjoy the latest blockbuster in one of the biggest and best motion picture houses ever created.
