Melrose Avenue
Melrose: a name made even more famous with the recent Aaron Spelling piece of weekly melodrama. A walk down Melrose Ave will have all the attitude you might expect but probably not the drama - at least not since Starbuck's moved in. An unofficial DMZ between Hollywood's faded glory and the upscale, trendy city of West Hollywood; Melrose offers clothing and grub for those who walk freely between both worlds. A trashy second cousin of San Francisco's Haight Street, Melrose has, in recent years, been similarly "cleaned up" by corporate America. However, the prime spots - west of La Brea, east of Fairfax - are as delightfully edgy and in-your-face as ever. Whether it's the aggressive façade of the retro-clothing Red Balls or the moody, darkened interior of The Snake Pit bar, Melrose is a one of a kind LA hot spot.
You want window-shopping? We got your window-shopping - and then some. This is one of the most peopled streets outside of Santa Monica's 3rd Street Promenade. Yes, you will actually see people walk a few blocks to get from one trendy clothing store to the next. In between, there are plenty of good restaurants - Argentinean, Indian, Italian, and Thai - you name it. Young celebrities, who prefer their lifestyle with a little grit, can be spotted at some of the newest fashionable clothing stores as well as the eccentric vintage clothing spots. Add to the mix some great old vinyl record shops, funky art galleries and a couple of 99-seat theatres (performing everything from Pinter to Porn) and this makes for some outstanding people watching both day and night. Continue westward toward La Cienega and beyond - the stores become more chichi, the streets remarkably cleaner and the restaurants more expensive - but, to no surprise, the excitement and the crowds have vanished.

Considered to be the most tourist packed spot in Chicago, Navy Pier is actually located on Lake Michigan; it extends about a mile into from the shore. The hustle and bustle of this spot is unbelievable! The number of events and activities going on in this place is quite astounding. Opened in 1916, the pier was designed for both shipping and recreational...More
